I first decided that I would write music for a living when I was 15 years old. I played a piano piece that I had written for a small group of my peers and after I had finished a girl walked up to me and said these words, “Your music makes me want to swim again.” It was in that moment that I realized that my music not only reached people on a purely visceral level, but a deeply emotional one as well. It was also at that point that I knew that I wanted to do just that for the rest of my life.
This desire led me to the world of film. There was just something so incredibly powerful about the marriage of music and visuals. I began honing my talents by recording improvised scores to my own films. Playing to the picture as it unfolded on the screen in front of me. I applied to only one school, the prestigious Berklee College of Music, and graduated, with honors, four years later with a bachelors degree in Film Scoring. After I finished my schooling I moved to the city of Chicago because I wanted to work with the talent that I knew was here, the mid-west artistic faction that has its own unique voice and style very different from its coastal counterparts.
I began at Fig as a DJ intern but soon started composing scores for some of Fig’s beautiful wedding films. From there I built my own position of Creative Music Director and became Fig’s very first In-House Composer. My strength at Fig lies in my ability to create a very personalized music score for Fig’s directors and their clients. From beautiful wedding ceremonies to striking fashion films, my ability to adapt and enhance leaves a strong mark on each project I work on.
